LWIP Cross Streets Project

The Lower Woodward Streetscape Improvement Projects involves the installation of new street lighting, sidewalks, bike racks, and other amenities along all of the primary and secondary streets located in the core of the central business district in downtown Detroit.  Since 2005, over $24 million has been invested in the public infrastructure upgrades of this type to enhance the public areas and support additional private investment made to increase commerce, job growth and residency in downtown Detroit.
The City of Detroit Downtown Development Authority (DDA) is currently managing the construction of the Lower Woodward Cross Streets Improvement Project, which is scheduled for completion in 2012.  The DDA staff also assisted the City of Detroit in securing partial funding from the Michigan Department of Transportation.
